Old and New

Shortly past the gas station we see girls just standing around at the side of the road. One of them leans into the window of the car in front of us. One waves to us, and we understand that these are roadside prostitutes. How quaint!

Another interesting aspect of "Eastern" Europe is the mix of old architecture, and more "socialist modern" architecture, such as the pink and grey buildings on the right there.

I think one of the downsides of Germany (Western Germany, at least) is that since so much of it was destroyed in the war and was rebuilt that a lot of the cities don't have a ton of "character". They're new, and modern, but that kind of makes them less interesting. I've enjoyed the places we've been so far, but this is much more intriguing to me.
