Last Hurrah

I had planned on this week and part of the next being a vacation, but that was not to be the case. I had a lot of work to get done and there was no way I was going to get it all cleared out unless I went into the office.

Sometimes, there's so much work to do that I don't even know what I'm actually doing. One time, I went on vacation and one of the guys on my team took over for me for two weeks. When I got back he said that he'd spent the whole time accomplishing an enormous number of tasks, but not actually getting anything done. It can be very frustrating.

M had plans to meet up with a friend for dinner, and I needed to get some of the guys from work together for a meeting, so I set up a bbq dinner as a bribe/thanks for taking time after work to help me out. We went to Hill Country (T and T's rec), where you order your food by the pound. We got wet brisket and sausage, chili, macncheese, and green bean casserole. There was no brew on tap, but a XX was good and the guys came through for me on the work I needed.

It was a bit less jovial than older times, but I guess things are less jovial than they used to be. In all though, it was good to see them, and I don't know when we'll be able to do it again.
