Mac and Jack

Before leaving, M and I went to get some dinner at our favorite Thai place in the neighborhood. They have 1 beer on tap and it's a local called Mac and Jack's African Amber.

The brewery doesn't bottle, so you have to go out to get it.

Actually, one of the great things about this town is how seriously they take their food and drink. When I first tried this beer, it immediately became my new favorite. It's a dry-hopped amber, and is perfectly balanced, good in pretty much any mood. I went looking for it in stores but couldn't find it. In one supermarket, I asked the guy stocking the beer shelves, who turned out to be their wine manager as well. He was an Aussie, which is always fun. and told me all about the brewery and that there were places I could get growlers if I wanted, and I should just call up the brewery and ask. I just thought it was great that he know this stuff.

Anyway, it was a beautiful day out so we sat outside and relaxed a bit.
