Local Drinks

We got our menus and I saw 2 interesting drinks. One was called "Bourtanger" and was an herb-infused liquor. The other was called "Advokaat". I'd read about Advokaat somewhere recently although I have no idea how. It is egg yolk (and milk, I think) mixed with brandy and sugar. It is thick, and eaten with a spoon.

We ordered one of each and figured that if we shared, it would go around pretty easily.

The bourtanger was strong, and definitely herby. If anything, it was a bit too strong and not herby enough. It wasn't sweet though, which was good.

The advokaat was basically a dessert, with quite a lot of brandy thrown in. No one else especially liked it, but we grabbed occasional spoonfuls of it throughout the afternoon.
