Heading Downtown
The hotel I booked said it was 2km from the train station, which we took to mean that it was close to downtown. It isn't. We check in, get a map from the front desk, and start walking to downtown. The clerk gives us a good route to walk through the "Great Garden" which is like the Central Park of Dresden. It will take us about 30 minutes to walk downtown.
We get started, because the light is already starting to fade.
This is not the train station they were referring to, but I like the way it looks.
By the way, this hotel is the first time I have had to use English in the check-in process. The clerk was going to photocopy my ID and I had to ask for "Englisch, bitte" since I couldn't understand him. It's nice that the clerks see my last name and don't immediately assume they have to start that way, though.
