Fight Night

We wandered down a few blocks that all seemed to feature strip clubs. Although it didn't seem TOO dangerous, we clearly were not in the family-focused neighborhood. We came to a street with some places to eat and hang out.

After passing on the pizza places and some sketchy looking cafes, I settled on a falafel from the local Mexican-Arab hole-in-the-wall. The outside was lame, so we walked up the block to a drinks-only cafe and grabbed a seat.

There were a lot of burly guys hanging out, but we kept quiet and they didn't bug us. There was a big TV that everyone was watching. We ordered drinks and I ate my sandwich, and a boxing match started. It was some American dude vs. some German dude.

We watched the fight, and everyone around us was really into it. The German got whomped pretty squarely, so we finished our drinks, paid, and snuck out quietly. The crowd seemed none-too-pleased with the result of the fight.

We decided to "sleep in" so we would be awake for the next day. We wanted to see former East Germany, so would go to Dresden, and if we felt up to it the morning, would go by way of the Czech Republic. I wanted to see Plzen, and we might sweep through Prague as well, but we'd call it as it happened.

We shifted some arrangements around and made sure that we would have a hotel in Dresden the next night, and that we were set up for Berlin the night after that.

Lesson learned.
