Slightly Tarnished
Arriving at the airport at 5:45, I learn that when you buy a one-way ticket the day before you travel, you will be subject to "extra security", which in DCA involves the explosives-detecting air-puffing machine. It was actually pretty cool. Also, you go into a separate line that actually moves faster than the regular line.
I flew into LGA and arrived at 8:30, which is not a good time to try to take a cab to the office, and wanted to use public transportation, which turned out to be a huge hassle. There's no metrocard machines, so I needed to get money for the bus, which then only took change. The result is that I wound up buying two cups of coffee just to get a bus to the subway, and made it to the office around 10AM.
In meetings for the rest of the day, I rapidly realized that being in NY was not going to be sufficient for getting the work done and I would have to go onsite to Chicago. Looks like a 6:45AM flight for me tomorrow. Whee.
After finishing work late, I headed over to T's to check out his new place downtown and grill out on his deck. We hit whole foods and got some shrimp skewers, crawfish cakes, and sausages, as well as a fresh growler of a local D.I.P.A.
A couple of hours and some empty plates (and an empty growler) later, we wandered out to find my hotel nearby.
