Rapid Consumption
We hung out in the shade on an old cart while M and the DFires waited on line at the dairy barn to get some ice cream.
They brought me back a glass of fresh buttermilk. I'd asked T to ask if it was really "fresh" and the person at the barn said that depended on what you meant by fresh. It had come from a cow quite recently, but it wasn't straight out of the cow.
Ah, I guess I forgot where I was for a minute.
Shortly afterwards, D spotted a rib stand, and I tried to get a sample plate, which they didn't do, so I just sampled the pulled pork (meh) and ordered riblets. they were really, really good. I shared with the group and there were rapidly none left. The best part was that if you just sucked on the bones you got this great smoky, porky flavor. Very nice.
Oh yeah, I got some funnel cake too. That should have been obvious though. I went with cinnamon-sugar and it took me back to an old donut shack we useed to go to when I was very young, where the donuts came out of the hot oil and right into the cinnamon-sugar. You took them home in a paper sack with fresh cider and none of them even made it back to the car.
Ahhhh. M and T were forced to get their own after they "sampled" everyone else's a bit too much.
